Waking up at 05.15, on a SUNDAY

Only horse people are crazy enough to wake up at 05.15 on a Sunday and drive to the other end of the country to join a dressage competition. Luckily I love mornings! :)

Castanja had her first competition, ever, today. I wasn't really sure what to expect, I mean she is ridden about 5 months in total and we have difficulties making turns sometimes but on the other hand she has good movements and a good temperament. Anything could happen! To be honest, not much happened. We came to the competition area, Castanja had a look around and decided that she was the queen of the place, we entered the warm up, had a look at the spooky mirrors, then ignored the not so spooky mirrors and succeeded in making a relaxed warm up. We entered the dressage course, had a quick look at the judges and completed the program with not much to comment on. Considering that Castanja is on the same level as our 4-year olds, even though she is 6, the program was a big success! I still have to make quite an effort to not jump around in the saddle when Castanja is trotting but it doesn't look that bad in the video! But believe me, I was sweating when we were done and it was minus degrees outside...

Here is the video from today's dressage competition! You can see that she looks a lot like her little sister, Lhasa, only bigger.

Fina Castanja hemma på gården idag!
